KWIH Celebrates Ground-Breaking of Wuyi Road Project in Changning District, Shanghai Developing a Distinctive Commercial/Office Complex
K. Wah International Holdings Limited (“KWIH” or “the Group”) (stock code: 00173) will incorporate the old and the new buildings to transform Wuyi Road project, part of the urban renewal plan in Changning District, Shanghai, into a cultural and creative landmark. The ground-breaking ceremony of Wuyi Road project was officiated by the management of KWIH and cooperative companies on 1 September, marking the beginning of the Group’s first heritage conservation and revitalization project in Mainland China. The project is expected to be completed in 2022.
Chinese parasol trees are planted on both sides of the Wuyi Road, along with oldstyle garden houses and other historical buildings built in Spanish, English country or Art Deco styles. As the project site remains the old factory of Feilo Acoustics established in 1984, the Group specially invited the famous architect Liu Yichun to develop an overall design. The project will combine the historical industrial architecture while incorporating modern architectural aesthetics, making full use of its spatial characteristics and allowing the revitalized building to be passed on in this new era. With the urban renewal plan of Changning District, Wuyi Road will become an oasis integrated commerce, dining rendezvous, leisure, entertainment and culture.
KWIH acquired the Wuyi Road site in Changning District, Shanghai in July 2019. The site has a total GFA of approximately 12,500 square meters. The plot is located between Wuyi Road and Zhaohua Road in Changning District, adjacent to the Zhongshan Park, and along multiple metro lines, with a superior geographical location, convenient transportation and ancillary facilities.
